princess and the frog

 

These cute little frogs were for my second cousins birthday.  She turned four and of course celebrated with a Princess and the Frog themed party.  We decided to go with a cupcake tower but, once again, I don't have a picture of the completed tower.  But imagine, if you will, these frog cupcakes on a tower with this cake on top:

 

It really did turn out cute!

Yum!  Chocolate is my favorite.  It's been a while, I know, so I'm going way back to May and try to catch my blog up.  What better to start with than this chocolate cake I did for a wedding shower.  It has chocolate buttercream icing and chocolate ganache on top with strawberries.  Talk about death by chocolate...

So for an update, we've been super busy.  But then again who isn't, right?  Summer was fun but over way too fast.  Then we moved into fall with school starting.  My oldest started first grade this year and my baby began K-4. 
 

Then there was soccer which took up a lot of our free time for a couple of months, but the boys had an awesome time.
 

And finally, I went back to work full time.  This has been an adjustment, but really not as bad as I thought.  After six years of working part time and the kiddos being in school and loving it, we decided it was time.  But the downside is I just don't have enough time to decorate cakes like I would like to.  I am planning to do a few here and there just because I enjoy it so much.  So I want to go ahead and apologize in advance if you ask and I have to turn you down.  However, please ask and the sooner the better.  If you ask me to do a cake for you now for say January, I can't turn you down because I don't really have any plans for that far in advance....most of the time.  ;-)

Once again no picture of the completed tower, but here are the cupcakes and the 6 inch cake that was for the top.  Half of the cupcakes were chocolate and half yellow cake with buttercream icing.  The 6 inch was yellow cake with fudge filling and buttercream icing.

This was for a birthday party at the Lake.  I don't have a picture of the tower that was created with the cupcakes and the 6 inch cake, but I imagine it was perfect for a swimming party.  The cake and cupcakes were chocolate with buttercream icing.

...I will have time to get cakes on my blog in a timely manner.  But on this side of the rainbow am I, playing catch up again.  This was a fun and girly cake I did back in April.  Yes, you read that right.  It was April.  Get with it, you say?  Yes I know.  I just don't make the time to edit pics and get them on here.  I'll try to do better.....maybe.  ;-)

The most challenging part was the ruby red slippers.  I made sugar cookies and added icing and red glitter which made them extremely heavy and I only ended up with one good slipper.  So I have one cookie slipper and one fondant slipper.  The one you see here is fondant. 

The bottom cake was chocolate and peanut butter filling.  The top cake was chocolate chip and I just can't remember the filling for that one.  That's what I get for waiting so long to blog it.

This was my favorite aspect of the cake.  Little witch legs hanging out from under the house.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot.  Emerald City was pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate colored green and green glittery sprinkles.

A very good friend of ours had a birthday back in March.  His party theme was construction vehicles and turned out super cute.  The party was a blast!  All the kids brought their power wheels over and rode in the birthday boy's front yard.  I know my boys had so much fun and it looked like all the other kids were having fun as well.

And since this is a cake blog and all, here is the cake.  It was white almond cake with cream cheese filling and iced in white butter cream.  The signs were fondant, the "asphalt" was oreo cookies mixed with a little cream cheese icing, the trucks were all toys and the logs were cracker sticks painted brown.

zebra lingerie

I've done several of these cakes, but this one was a little different with the zebra print. My sister in law (who is recently engaged I might add.  Congrats Claire!!!)  helped with a lingerie shower for a friend and asked me to do a zebra print version of the lingerie cake.  It was fun to do!

The cake was chocolate chip with chocolate butter cream filling and white butter cream icing.  The zebra print was fondant.

I saw a version of this cake a while back and just loved how simple yet cute it was.  So I was very excited when I had the opportunity to do one like it.  Not to mention I love Minnie. 

The cake was chocolate with cream cheese filling.  The mouse head was cake covered with fondant, the ears were fondant as well as the bow and other decorations.

My niece had a "Rockin 2's" birthday party back in March.  Yeah I know it's late but better late than never.  The party turned out pretty cute and really fit her personality. For more pictures of her party, click here. 

She is a sassy little thing but oh so adorable!

One tier of the cake was chocolate with peanut butter filling and the other was white almond cake with cream cheese filling.  The cake was iced in butter cream and the decorations were all marshmallow fondant.
