I really love this cake! Maybe it's because garnet and gold are just so pretty together or because I love those Noles, but either way it turned out really pretty. It was for a gentleman turning eighty years old.
I was thinking as I was making the cake about how many experiences and life lessons the honoree could probably share and the wisdom from those experiences he most likely deems priceless. I reminded myself to cherish every experience in life. Good or bad. They make us who we are and prepare us for the place God wants to take us.
That's my thought provoking tidbit for this late night. On to the cake.
Want to know something funny about the above picture? My two year old wrote on the wall in permanent marker. I didn't realize it at the time, but that was the background of my picture. Photo Shop is a beautiful thing!
Another little bit of background information on this cake is this.....The day of the party, the honoree's daughter calls me and in our conversation she asks me how the cake turned out. Well, being the procrastinator that I am I had to admit to her that the cake was not done. I could hear her small gasp over the phone even though it was quiet. I know it was not comforting for her to hear those words from me on the day of a birthday party that she was planning for 60 people, but I promised her that it would be finished. I made good on my promise even if I was working on the cake right up until the last minute.

Loving this cake like I'm loving the Seminoles right now. Go Noles!!
You are really talented!! I bet the daughter and the birthday fellow love it!!
