spring birthday

Is it Spring yet?  I'm not sure, but it feels like it to me.  I love Spring.  It's my favorite season, so for my Aunt's birthday my mom wanted me to do a cookie bouquet for her and we decided Spring would be the theme.  I made some flowers, a couple of butterflys and some sunshine smiley faces.

And because she LOVES sugar cookies, I made some extra without the stick.

I really enjoyed doing this cake.  It was something different and for the sweetest little girl from church.  The theme of the party was mermaids and she wanted a clam shell cake with some blue because that's her favorite color.  This is what I came up with. 

The cake is yellow with cream cheese filling.  It's covered with fondant and the pearls are also fondant.

It was for several of her classmates' birthdays.  Since they are all working on getting their degree in Education, I decided to do a Teacher's theme cake.  I was going to do a whole apple, but half of it fell to the floor in a pile of cake crumbs so it's half an apple.

This was for a little girl turning one.  The theme was cupcakes.

 

And this was her very own cupcake smash cake.

My niece had her first birthday a couple of weeks ago.  The theme was very fun.  It was cookies and milk and the decorations were all pink and brown. 

 

She wasn't too happy about the singing happy birthday part.

 

She has to be the cutest thing ever even if I am partial.

 

nana's cake

I apologize for being away for awhile, but I have been making cakes.  I just haven't slowed down long enough to post them.  This past weekend we had a birthday party and also a open house for my Grandmother, Nanna.  Nanna is very special to me so it was an honor for me to be able to make a cake for her. 

The overall theme was "springy" so this is what I came up with.  The top layer is chocolate cake with peanut butter filling.  The middle layer is yellow cake with cream cheese filling and the bottom layer is butter pecan with cream cheese filling.  It's all covered with fondant and all of the decorations were made from fondant.

I've taken a little break this past week because we went  to Disney.  We saw the mouse and all of his friends, rode It's a Small World and had a really great time.  I know you're thinking, "What? You had a great time with two small kids?"  But we did and the kids did absolutely great.  I'll share some cute pictures from our trip soon.

But for now I'm back with a fun paintball cake.  The cake was yellow with chocolate buttercream icing.  The fence and the guy were made from marshmallow fondant.
