My mother retired this year after teaching for 35 years. That's quite an accomplishment and I'm very proud of her. We had a retirement party at church for her. The theme was "elegant beach" and the decorations were beautiful thanks to the very talented MiMi. She outdid herself as usual and I wish I had pictures, but I don't yet.
I do however have pictures of the cake.
The cake was covered in shades of brown marshmallow fondant. The coral was made from royal icing. The shells were made from candy melts and the "fish roses" were made from fondant.

I didn't notice that the roses had little fish tails untill now. Cute idea!

Everyone was ooing and ahhing over the cake and couldn't figure out how you made those shells! :-) It was beautiful!
I still didn't even get a piece. Urghhhhh . . . I'm going on like 9 months now with no cake. I'm not liking this. :-P
